GLOSSYBOX – September 2012

PRODUCTS:

  • 01 Wella Professionals Mirror Polish Shine Serum

They had Wella Professionals’ products in the other Glossyboxes and they all smelled great and worked very well. This product smells wonderful so far! I haven’t gotten a chance to use it yet, but I am excited to.

  •  02 B. Kamins Lip Balm SPF 20

This definitely smells more like maple than the lotion. It smelled okay in the container, but I wasn’t a fan of it when it was on my lips.

  • 03 B. Kamins Maple Body Lotion

Be careful when you open this! I had lotion spilling out of it when I first opened it. This product has an interesting scent to it. It smells like sweet baby powder (If that makes any sense).

  •  04 NYX Cosmetics: The Crimson Amulet Collection

It comes with eye shadow, eye shadow base, liner, lip-gloss, illuminator and blusher. The colours in this collection are very wearable. I look forward to using it!

  • 05 Dove ClearTone

I already own this product and I like it. It’s lightly scented and moisturizing. It claims that it protects against underarm discoloration caused by dry skin from shaving. I am not sure if it works or not because I use an epilator for my underarms.

  • Bonus – GlossyBox Supports: Art of Fashion

REVIEW:

This box is called the Red Carpet Ready GlossyBox. Like all the other GlossyBoxes that I’ve received, this one came beautifully wrapped. I’ve been using the boxes to store my other beauty products. I have so many of these boxes now and I am running out of ideas with what to do with them!

I like the assortment of products in this box. I definitely wasn’t expecting to receive NYX Cosmetics’ Crimson Amulet Collection. It’s a full size product and it’s limited edition! I am really excited to test it out. I wasn’t really impressed by the maple lotion and lip balm, but it’s nice that I got a chance to try the products.

ASOS – Order No.01 Review

PRODUCTS:

  • 01 French Connection Pompei Contrast Toe Ballet Flats

The material is very soft. It fits true to size to a little large. It’s a little wide for me at the heels. I bought size UK 3, which is the same as size 5.  The only slight problem I have with the ballet flats is that you can feel the black plastic lining when you walk.

  • 02 ASOS Contrast Bow Bandeau Bikini Top // ASOS Contrast Bow Hipster Bikini Bottom

I bought size UK 8, which is the same as size 4. The material is stretchy so if you’re in between sizes, you can go down and it should be fine. My only complaint is that the bows don’t stay in place. The bottom bow sticks out at weird angles and I have to keep adjusting it to make it look normal.

  • 03 River Island Stripe Bikini Brief

I bought this in size UK 8 as well. I have another bottom that’s UK 10 and the fit feels the same to me.

  •  04 ASOS Crochet Ruffle Underwired Bikini Top

This is in size 34B and it fits true to size. I really like this top. I love the ruffles and the crochet detailing is amazing. I don’t find it too frilly or poufy.

REVIEW:

ASOS is an online fashion and beauty store that carries a huge assortment of clothes and brands. I love shopping at ASOS because they offer free shipping worldwide and they always have great sales. Also, the site is very easy to use and it lets you know which items are low in stock. This is important because items go out of stock fast!

Customs & taxes! This is almost everyone’s biggest concern when shopping online! I have ordered from ASOS multiple times before and I mean A LOT! I try to split my orders so that it’s under $20.00 to avoid customs. However, this doesn’t work when you have a coupon because they only allow one coupon per e-mail.

I have gotten charged customs two times and both of those times I’ve ordered shoes. (This order is one of them.) The shoeboxes made the order very “big” and large packages tend to get hit by customs. However, I’ve ordered shoes from them before and didn’t get charged customs. So like I mentioned before, it’s random.  Also, the delivery took so long because it went through customs.

I recommend that you separate your orders to be less than $20.00 if possible. Also, try to make sure that your order doesn’t come in a large package by separating shoes or anything that’s large, heavy or bulky from your order into separate orders.

JOE FRESH – Tinted Lip Balm

SWATCHES:

  • Blush – bright pink

  • Coral - light orange coral

PRICE:
(Please note that all prices are in CAD)
  • Superstore - $8.00

REVIEW:

I’ve had these for a while now and decided to do a review for them because it doesn’t seem like these have gotten a lot of exposure.

I really like this product because it smells amazing! The best way I can describe it is that it smells like melon candy. It goes on smoothly and it leaves a sheen finish. There aren’t any shimmers in it.  It’s moisturizing, but it isn’t as moisturizing as other well-known lip balms like nivea and blistex. It leaves a very light tint of colour.  You can add more coats for more colour. I have to apply two layers of Blush to get a bright pink colour. For Coral, I need to apply about three layers.

REVIEW:

Shoemint releases a new collection of shoes each month. The selection shown in your showroom is supposed to match your style profile. They carry sizes ranging from 5-11. Size 5 runs out pretty quick!

An important thing to note is that if you decide not to purchase anything from next month’s collection or any other month after that, you have to remember to click “skip the month” or you’ll get charged for it. (If you haven’t purchased anything from them yet, you don’t have to worry about this part.) I personally don’t understand the concept of this and find it to be too much of a hassle.

The Suki boot comes in two colours: Wine and Midnight. It’s made out of distressed leather and it has 4” heels.  The shoes cost $79.98.  I highly recommend that you google around for coupons because they are very generous with their coupons. You’re bound to find one! (It’ll counteract the expensive shipping costs!)

The boot fits true to size and is very comfy. Its material is very sturdy. However, there’s very little grip on the bottom of the shoes. I love that they added a zipper at the back of it so that you can unzip it to make the opening larger. This is great for the winter since I’ll be wearing thicker socks or leg warmers.
